When Flannery and Andrew asked me to photograph their New York City engagement session, I couldn’t wait. Although I’m based in Akron, Ohio and will be capturing their Cleveland wedding next year, NYC is one of my favorite places to visit—and any excuse to return is a welcome one. I’ve explored the city many times before, but every session brings a fresh perspective, especially when I get to document a couple so full of life and connection.
We started our morning in Central Park, beginning at the iconic Bethesda Terrace and Fountain. It was already buzzing with activity, as Central Park tends to be, but that didn’t stop us from capturing some incredible moments. The light filtered in beautifully through the arches, giving a warm, golden glow to the images and highlighting the stunning details of the architecture. Flannery and Andrew were completely at ease in front of the camera—playful, genuine, and so clearly in love.
From there, we explored some of the nearby rock formations that offered sweeping views of the Manhattan skyline. These natural high points are some of my favorite spots for wide, editorial-style shots that still feel grounded and personal. The contrast of rugged textures against the cityscape made for some really striking images.
To close out the session, we wandered through the Upper East Side. The quiet neighborhood streets, lined with classic brownstones, gave us a completely different vibe—more relaxed and intimate, but still with that unmistakable New York charm.
This New York City engagement session was such a joy to photograph. Flannery and Andrew brought so much energy and authenticity, and I’m even more excited to photograph their wedding in Cleveland next year after spending such a fun morning with them in the city they call home.
